Presented by East Mayo native Patricia Conway, April’s lecture will focus on the often forgotten about Congested District Board, (the forerunner of the Land Commission) from 1891 to 1923 in how they developed the land and landscape of East Mayo.

Patricia will talk about how this agency oversaw the transfer of land from landlord to tenant, including the Dillon Estate, and how the CDB helped alleviate rural poverty.

A fascinating night, a must for anyone interested in the local history of Kilmovee, Ballaghaderreen and surrounding areas.

Doors open at 7.30pm. Talk starts at 8pm. Admission €5 includes refreshments. All ages welcome.
