Last night saw one of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians visit Kilmovee to officially open the 6th Seosamh Mac Gabhann Summer School.
John Carthy, his daughter Maggie along with musicians Noel and Francis entertained the audience for over an hour with some delightful music, song and the odd story or two, before officially opening this year’s summer school.
Fegal took to the stage to thank sponsors, committee, councillors, TD’s and Senator (some of whom were in attendance) for their assistance.
Refreshments were served in The Thatch beside the community centre before the slightly larger than usual Cois Tine – Heritage night featuring song, dance, stories and music from regular and new contributors.
Huge congratulations to everyone of the committee of the Seosamh Mac Gabhann Summer School for once again putting on a superb opening concert and getting the fastest growing summer school together and for helping preserve our traditions.
I was once again on hand to capture the evening, please enjoy the photos.
Oh, and happy birthday to Emily Rooney who was presented with a ‘cake’ by family and friends.
Well done also to Dominic for looking after the sound again.
