Kilmovee Saddened by Sudden Passing of Postmistress

5

Postmistress of Kilmovee Post Office Agency in the Community Centre Sadly passed away yesterday.

Nuala Hawkins (nee O’Hora), Aughadeffin, who worked in the Kilmovee Community Centre as Administrator & Postmistress up until last year and who continued to run the Post Office Agency touched many peoples lives.

The warm welcome and smile that greeted anyone who walked into the Community Centre during office hours was always genuine.

A member of the Pastoral Council, an avid supporter of the Meals on Wheels service and many other community groups in the parish will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.

I was deeply shocked and saddened when I received the news yesterday evening, I will miss the banter when I would spend hours at the Community Centre in my role as a director or at events while trying to capture her on camera as she avoided me taking her picture, mostly she won and I’d get the back of her head, a hand over the face or just a blur.

(I had to resort to distraction by talking to her and holding camera a chest height and you can see in picture above the devilment in the eyes and that smile that would lighten the darkest of days.)

May you Rest in Peace Nuala, it was a pleasure to get to know you and work with you, my thoughts are with Mike and family at this difficult time.

As a mark of respect the Community Centre will be closed on Thursday and Friday except for Social Welfare Payments which will be paid from 9.30-12.30 each day. If your attending an event please check with your organizer.
