Sometimes the only way is by foot! The Lord, not unlike Ryanair, is asking us to travel lightly and not to carry unnecessary baggage.

The more we carry, the more difficult it is to walk and ultimately to make our way through the “Narrow Gate” and into His lasting peace. Do we need all we carry? Are there things, resentments, anger, grudges we could set aside so that the journey might be more enjoyable and the destination more reachable?

A word around peace for all of you as the new term begins. For some this will be the first day in one of our Primary Schools in the parish and it will be a day of mixed emotions, tears and
sadness (no, not for you boys and girls, for your parents!!!). There’s a letting go here that may not be easy but we wish you well and hope you make many new friends along the way.
For others, who have been among our friends in recent years, there will be a move to Secondary School, maybe Ballaghaderreen, Charlestown or Ballyhaunis.

As you take your place among the “first years”, we wish you every blessing and thank so many of you who have been our Altar Servers and choir members.
