As we walk again in the shadow of violence, our thoughts are with your time spent on this earth and the difference you sought to make.

You spoke of peace not war, love not hatred, and turning to not away from our neighbours. Where has it all gone wrong? Why has it all gone wrong?

Surely Calvary and the emptied tomb were meant to pave the way for a better road for all of us. Countless times you spoke those words “Peace be with you”.

How is it then that so many opt for violence? How is it that people can be so blinkered as not to see the hurt and devastation caused by their thirst for blood and mayhem?

How is it that an occasion of joy can, in a split second, become a scene of carnage? How is it that there is so much hatred in our world?

Yes, Lord there are countless questions now. We are all at a loss and, more than ever perhaps, need your feet to be recognised as they walk among us still. Too much, far too much blood has flowed from your side. Let there be peace shared among us.

Let your touch render our peace. Amen.
