Kilmovee Parish Bulletin – 16th July

75

This weekend we hear again the story told by Jesus about the planting of seed.

The seed planted was all of a kind but it did not all grow the way the sower might expect of hope for.

When asked to explain the meaning of the parable, Jesus speaks in a very clear and direct
way about the different reasons the seed did not produce its crop in the way hoped for.

Worries, shallow ground, other concerns, selfinterest and a variety of reasons cause the seed to be sewn in ground where it cannot fully reach its potential.

Equally rocky ground, (hardened hearts) cannot fully receive the seed or give it a safe and lasting lodging. Shallow ground (faith), likewise is not the best.

Finishing on a positive note, he tells them that some of the seed falls into rich and welcoming soil and that, it from such a dwelling place, it can produce sound and intended crop.
