Only 18 months ago, I bought a new laptop with your help, this was a bargain basement yolk but worked hard in its short life.
To keep Kilmovee Info up-to-date with news, photos, security updates and more needs a hardworking volunteer (that’s me) and a harder working laptop is required.
I have mentioned many times before about the cost of running the site, from hosting costs, licences, travel and so much more. I have also mentioned that over the years since the launch in 2009 I found the costs myself and in recent, this cost has been subsidised by a number of individuals and community organisations. Thank you.
However, if something goes wrong there are no reserve finances which means I have to fund the emergency… or patch it up as best as I can.
Just like the previous laptop, 2 or 3 months passed when I didn’t know if the thing would turn on when asked to… or upgrading the camera that takes the 100’s of pictures that feature on the site, investing in better lenses to ensure that the best possible product can be offered to you, the users of Kilmovee Info.
The latest cost has just been spent (invested) in a new Acer Aspire 3 laptop, this comes with 8GB DDR4, 1TB HDD with Intel i3 processor but this didn’t come cheap and I hope will be the last investment of this kind for a number of years. Once again his cost has fallen on me. (if I received 1c for every view this year so far (74,355) that would have paid for the new laptop and half the cost of hosting for the next year.)
I try to cover as many events as possible, from all corners of the parish and love it, I love showing off our little bit of Ireland with the rest of the world, I know that some people will be missed and mistakes will be made (and corrected when possible), I also know that there will be complaints both private (preferred) and public (less desirable), but before you start typing please consider this… I am only human, I am only one human, the site is a major part of my life on a voluntary basis, I fund the majority of the costs, ask yourself, have I contributed in a positive way? Is my complaint really warranted? Can I deal with this privately and not on a public forum…
Can you help me run Kilmovee Info? I would really love some assistance from you.
- Can you send an email? Then you could write articles for the site.
- Do you take photos on a smartphone or a camera? Then you could contribute to the site.
- Do you attend events in the parish? Then you could write a short summary and email it to the site.
- Are you organising an event? Then email it to kilmovee@kilmovee.info and your contributing
If none of these appeals, then please consider a financial contribution. Oh, look I’ve included a handy contribution form below… that is safe and secure.
