Heritage Night to celebrate St Brigid
On Monday night Jan 30th (the last Monday of the month), on the eve of St Brigid’s Day a heritage night will take place in ‘Cois Tine’ heritage centre Kilmovee at 8.30pm.
To mark this occasion and to herald the coming of spring musicians, singers, dancers and storytellers will come together to celebrate the feast of St Brigid.Na Brídeogaí is a tradition associated with ‘St Brigid’s Day’ and is unfortunately apart from its memory, lost to our heritage, but not so at ‘Cois Tine’ as Na Brídeogaí will perform on the night. The feast of St Brigid is a good time for remembering the hospitality that Brigid was famed for, so the usual cupán tae will be served with homemade traditional food. A demonstration on the making of St Brigid’s crosses will take place during the first part of the evening, come early and join in this local tradition. A raffle will be held on the night.
Admission is free. All are welcome.
